To become a Fortera investor, you start with a conversation with our financial specialists, either in-office or virtually. Together, we assess the role of digital assets in your portfolio. After completing the KYC process (Know Your Customer), you will receive deposit instructions. Your investment will be officially added to the Fortera funds on the first day of the month. As an investor, you gain access to our client portal to track performance and receive monthly updates from the portfolio manager.
Fortera offers two funds, both registered with the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM):
The Fortera Core Fund is an opportunistic Web3 investment fund that employs three main strategies:
The fund targets an annual return of +40% and is registered with the AFM under number 50031858. More information can be found on this page.
The Fortera Arc Fund is a market-neutral fund aiming for stable returns of +15% per year. The strategy includes:
The fund is registered with the AFM under number 50036017. More information can be found on this page.
Fortera’s fee structure consists of two components:
The net asset value (NAV) is the value of an investment fund, calculated by dividing the total value of assets (such as securities and cash) minus liabilities (such as debts and management costs) by the number of outstanding shares. The NAV displayed in the client portal reflects the actual value of one share in the fund.
A high-water mark is the highest net asset value (NAV) that an investment fund or account has ever reached. This is an important reference point because an investment fund may only charge a performance fee if the net asset value rises above this previously achieved high-water mark.
You can find your personal performance in the Fortera client portal. With your login credentials, you have access to your personal dashboard.
The secure storage of your investment in digital currencies is guaranteed by our advanced custody protocol. This protocol is designed to provide maximum security and prevent loss, theft, or unauthorized access. Our solution uses advanced encryption techniques and multi-signature wallets, with multiple layers of security to protect your digital assets.
The minimum investment is €100,000. This amount is based on the guidelines of the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). Because we are registered with the AFM, we are required to comply with these regulations.
Digital assets are an emerging asset class known for high volatility. To mitigate the impact of these fluctuations, we advise investors to maintain an investment horizon of at least 5 years. This makes it possible to absorb short-term market fluctuations and better benefit from long-term growth potential.
A monthly entry point is maintained on the first of the month. To participate, Fortera must have received all required documents no later than three days before the end of the month, and the deposit must be credited before the first of the month. If this is not achieved, participation will take place in the following month.
Dividends and other proceeds are automatically reinvested in the fund. If you wish to withdraw profits, you can indicate this. In that case, part of your participation may be sold to enable the payout.
We only accept investments in euros. Crypto transfers are not accepted.
Fortera allows companies and organizations to participate in one of the funds. However, additional Know-Your-Customer (KYC) information may be requested, such as verification of the Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs). It is also important that your company’s articles of association include the ability to make financial investments.
Web3 is the next generation of the internet, based on decentralized technologies like blockchain. Unlike the current internet (Web 2), where data and platforms are largely controlled by central parties (e.g., big tech companies), Web3 aims for a decentralized model where users have more control over their own data, identity, and digital assets.
Characteristics of Web3 include:
Web3 aims to create a more transparent, secure, and democratic internet where users have more say and can exchange value directly without intermediaries. Read more about what Web3 is here.
Web3 is a decentralized version of the internet, based on blockchain technology, where users have more control over their data and interactions. Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies used within this ecosystem for transactions and value transfer. In short: cryptocurrencies are part of Web3, but Web3 encompasses a broader decentralized internet ecosystem.
Due to a changing economic landscape and a society that is digitalizing further, we believe Web3 will play a crucial role in this next technological revolution. Investing in digital assets now offers an interesting opportunity to protect and grow your wealth.
Investing in Web3 differs from traditional investments in several key ways:
In short, Web3 offers new opportunities and challenges but also requires a different perspective and understanding of technology.
A Web3 portfolio includes a wide range of innovative technologies, such as:
These technologies form the foundation of the Web3 ecosystem and offer new possibilities for innovation and growth.
Fortera is an investment institution focused on investments within Web3. With Fortera, you can choose a defensive approach with the Fortera Arc Fund or benefit from growth opportunities in the Web3 market with the opportunistic Fortera Core Fund. The Fortera Core Fund is the first Web3 investment fund in the Netherlands.
Fortera’s headquarters are located in Breda, the Netherlands.
Fortera’s mission is to bring happiness to people by deploying their resources meaningfully.
With nearly a decade of in-depth knowledge and experience in blockchain technology and algorithmic trading, our team’s expertise enables us to continuously optimize the fund in the dynamic crypto market.
Fortera operates under the AIFMD-light regulations. This means we use a license-free management structure, reporting annually to the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and quarterly to De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). We also comply with various legal obligations, including the Dutch Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act (Wwft). These regulations help us ensure transparency and integrity, both within our company and in the financial sector.
To comply with the Wwft, we use tools like TIKL Compliance. Before a participant can join one of our funds, they are assessed against our annually updated Wwft protocol. We have created concise questionnaires, which most participants complete quickly. Often, it’s a matter of reading carefully, so most errors are easily avoided.
In some cases, we may ask additional questions to clarify, for example, the origin of the capital. This not only helps us comply with the law but also ensures a safe and fair investment environment. Our approach is thorough but always aimed at a positive and pleasant experience for our participants.
The verification process is an essential part of the Wwft and helps prevent financial crime, such as money laundering and fraud. For new investors, this means we verify your identity. This includes providing personal details, such as a valid ID and additional documentation about the origin of the investment capital.
In practice, this process usually runs smoothly and without issues. Most participants complete the verification quickly and without hassle. Although strict, this process ensures we can provide a safe, reliable, and fair investment environment. You can trust that your data will be handled with the utmost care and discretion.
The UBO Register (Ultimate Beneficial Owner Register) is a legal requirement that organizations like Fortera must maintain to record the ultimate beneficiaries of our funds.
For participants, this means we request a copy of your passport upon registration. After registration, you will receive official confirmation of your participation via the UBO Register, sent by post or email, depending on your preference.
There are several risks associated with Web3 investments, including:
In the event of bankruptcy, participants’ assets will be returned, as the fund’s assets are held in a separate entity. This legal structure ensures that digital assets remain separate from any legal or operational issues of Fortera.
